Projects to tackle child and youth poverty
Jugend, Kinder
The Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Transformation and Digitalisation of Rhineland-Palatinate funds projects aimed at specifically improving the living conditions of socially and economically disadvantaged children and young people in Rhineland-Palatinate (from school age up to the age of 21), with up to 5,000 euros per project per year (10% own contribution).
Aim of the funding
A key objective is to promote the social participation of the children and young people concerned, thereby laying a solid foundation for their personal development. Strengthening the resilience of children and young people living in poverty and supporting their cognitive development are further important aims of the funding programme.
The projects take place in an out-of-school context and address topics relating to education, health, the arts or culture. These are regular activities which children and young people can take part in on multiple occasions throughout the course of the project.
There is also the option of involving older people or those in need of care in the projects. This intergenerational approach makes a valuable contribution to the social development of children and young people, whilst also promoting an inclusive community from which all participants benefit.
Local authorities, independent welfare organisations, associations and voluntary initiatives are eligible to apply. They may apply for up to 5,000 euros per project annually, subject to a minimum contribution of 10 per cent of the project’s total expenditure.
