Special State Programme: ‘Strengthening Volunteering – Promoting Food Distribution – Supporting Those in Need’

The Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Family and Youth’s regional programme supports voluntary work at food banks in Rhineland-Palatinate that assist people in need, providing grants of up to €2,000.

In 2026, the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Women, Family and Youth will provide funding, as part of the state’s special programme ‘Strengthening Volunteering – Promoting Food Distribution – Supporting Those in Need’, the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Women, Family and Youth will support the work of voluntary initiatives in Rhineland-Palatinate that collect surplus food that is still fit for consumption and distribute it to people in need.

The funding programme recognises and supports the voluntary work carried out by the staff of these initiatives. It is also intended to help offset the increased costs faced by food distribution centres.

The grant is awarded for up to 200 hours of voluntary work and is capped at a maximum of 2,000 euros per scheme and organisation or initiative (equivalent to 10.00 euros per hour).

Applications must be submitted by 22 August 2026 at the latest.
