The 10th Volunteer Days in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region
Volunteer recruitment, Commitment
Working together, meeting new people and making a difference for the common good: the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region’s Volunteering Days will take place from 12 to 20 September 2026.
Over the course of nine days, volunteers, clubs, initiatives, businesses, local authorities and schools will demonstrate just how diverse volunteering in the region can be. For clubs and initiatives, the Volunteering Days offer a great opportunity to carry out their own projects, reach out to new volunteers and raise the profile of their organisation.

What are the Volunteer Days?
The Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region’s Volunteer Days are a campaign to encourage community engagement for the common good. For the tenth time, people from across the region are coming together to get involved.
It’s not just clubs and initiatives with their own projects that can take part. Anyone wishing to volunteer themselves can also get involved: via the volunteering exchange, those interested can search for suitable projects in their local area and sign up directly for an activity. This makes it very easy to try out volunteering – even without a long-term commitment.
Although the Volunteering Days will take place from 12 to 20 September 2026, volunteering is not limited to this period alone. Projects and volunteering opportunities can be found all year round via the Volunteering Exchange. This gives organisations and initiatives the chance to raise awareness of their projects and recruit volunteers even outside the campaign period.
How to turn your club into a project provider
Would you like to attract new people to your club, carry out a project for which you’ve been short of helping hands, or simply make a difference to your town together? Then the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region’s Volunteer Days are a great opportunity to do just that.
For clubs, the Volunteer Days can be an interesting way to raise their profile beyond their own membership base.
You may well recognise this situation: you have an idea for a project, but in the day-to-day running of your club, you lack the time or the extra hands to put it into practice. Or perhaps you’d like to reach people who aren’t yet familiar with your club.
This is exactly where the Volunteer Days come in.
As a project organiser, you can:
- meet new people and get them excited about your club,
- showcase your commitment and the work your organisation does,
- make new contacts in your region,
- work together to implement a specific project,
- enable people to get involved in volunteering in an accessible way, and
- perhaps even attract new long-term supporters or members.
Which projects are suitable?
A project for the Volunteer Days doesn’t have to be huge. The key thing is that there is a specific task that people can work on together.
Perhaps there’s something on your club’s premises that needs renovating, a room that needs redecorating, or an event that needs organising. Perhaps you’d like to organise an activity for your neighbourhood or get together to create something creative.
Even smaller projects can be interesting if they have a clear starting point and a visible outcome.
How to register your projects
Registration takes place via the Volunteering Exchange for the Volunteering Days.
Once you have registered, you can log in using your user account and list one or more projects.
As soon as your project has been registered and approved, interested volunteers can sign up for it. The Volunteering Days support project organisers in various ways, including through regional publicity campaigns and by providing promotional materials.
‘We make things happen’ T-shirts
Put on your T-shirt, roll up your sleeves and let’s get going! Once again this year, the ‘Wir schaffen was’ T-shirt is part of the campaign. As a thank-you, project organisers and their volunteers will receive a blue ‘Wir schaffen was’ T-shirt, which they can wear during their joint activities.
To ensure your T-shirt is ready in time for the Volunteer Days, you must place your order via the website by 20 August 2026 at the latest.
Free resources
A range of free promotional materials is available on the Volunteer Days website. These include, amongst other things, information leaflets, Canva templates, images and campaign visuals for 2026.
You can use these to publicise your participation, for example on social media, on your organisation’s website or via notices.
With a project involving lots of people, some of whom may be coming into contact with your organisation for the first time, the question of insurance cover naturally arises.
The organisers of the Volunteer Days are therefore providing their own information for 2026 regarding insurance cover during the Volunteer Days. Clubs and initiatives should familiarise themselves with the applicable conditions before their project and take note of the information provided.
